About this site

Aurora apps are built for space-weather enthusiasts: Kp indexes, solar wind speeds, magnetometer plots. Travelers ask a simpler question — will I actually see it? — and the honest answer depends as much on clouds, darkness and the moon as on the sun. This site exists to answer that one question plainly, for the places people actually fly to.

It is built and run by one person. The scores are computed from public NOAA, GFZ and Open-Meteo data using a formula documented in full on the methodology page. Some tour links may earn a commission; they are chosen for reviews and usefulness, and they never move a score.

Found a night where the score and the sky disagreed? That feedback genuinely improves the calibration — the formula's constants are public and get tuned against real nights.
